Smoothies

Smoothies are a great way to add in lots of fruits, vegetables and super foods to your diet. They really pack a nutrient punch…and taste delicious!

You can enjoy them for breakfast, as a snack or as another meal during the day to give your digestive system a break.

Kids love them, too. Throw in a handful or two of fresh baby spinach to make any smoothie “green” and boost its nutrients (without impacting the flavor). My friend Christina tells her kids the spinach or other greens are “dinosaur leaves” and it makes them want to use them! Very clever 🙂

One of my favorite things about smoothies is that they satisfy that cold and creamy craving many us have for things like ice cream…but without all of the downsides of dairy!

    LOVE the smoothie recipes. I can’t wait to make the Chocolate Covered Strawberry smoothie! My son and I have been making smoothies since we purchased a Blend Tec about a year ago on sale at Costco. Our favorite so far are the mango/pineapple and the chocolate/caramel but we are always looking for more and this is the best time of year to try new options. Thanks, Lisa M.

      I’m so glad! That is one of my favorites. I also like the chocolate-covered cherry one. There is something about the almond extract that takes it over the top. The one I make most often is the pineapple mango one. I have a new variation of that one that I’ve been working on that includes ginger and lime as well! So glad you enjoyed the smoothies 🙂 They are perfect for this time of year! Another website to check out that I like is http://www.simplegreensmoothies.com. Lots of great recipes and ideas.
